Couples have described Mike as “sincere, open-minded, calming, easy to talk to, kind, and reassuring.” His aim is for every ceremony to be unique to each couple’s wishes – from formal and conventional to casual and relaxed.
Mike became ordained in 2000 when he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Theology from Portland Bible College. Since then, he has worked as a pastor, a hairstylist, an event coordinator, and a wedding officiant. Over the past 8 years, Mike and his beautiful wife and three girls have loved living in Asheville. They have developed wonderful friendships and Mike has been able to connect with several non-profits in the area. Currently, Mike volunteers with Open Hearts Art Center assisting them in development and maintaining their gallery space.
Officiating weddings for nearly a decade, Mike genuinely enjoys meeting engaged couples, hearing their stories, and guiding them through the biggest commitment of their lives. One of the most important things to Mike is that the couple feels welcome, accepted, and comfortable. Each couple brings with them unique desires and expectations that need to be heard and validated.
Mike’s style focuses on the majors like Love, Equality, Patience, Commitment and Unity, and he is very supportive of each couple’s belief system (except if you are a FL Gator!). Mike is a strong advocate and believer in marriage equality. He approaches every wedding ceremony with grace, practicality, and joy, and he would be delighted to bring this joy to your wedding day!
